How it works
- 1. Choose your video.
Upload a supported video or choose a retained file. Playback depends on your browser; an unsupported preview can still be processed.
- 2. Choose the audio format.
MP3 offers broad compatibility. M4A copies compatible AAC-LC; otherwise it uses AAC transcoding. WAV stores 16-bit PCM and can be much larger.
- 3. Listen and download.
Play the verified generated audio. Signed-in results stay connected to their source in Files; supported batches retain partial results and failed-only retry.
Frequently asked questions
Which audio track is extracted?
The first audio stream in physical stream order is selected, consistently for uploads, API calls, batches and workflows. Other tracks, subtitles, artwork, chapters and source metadata are not included.
What if the video has no sound?
A video with no audio track is rejected with a clear message. Choose a version with sound. Audio cannot be recovered from a silent video.
Why can my browser not play the source?
Browser container and codec support varies, especially for MKV, MOV and WebM. Server-side extraction uses FFmpeg and remains available when native playback is unsupported.
Does extraction preserve quality?
M4A copies a compatible AAC-LC track without re-encoding. Other M4A inputs are transcoded to AAC at 192 kbps. MP3 is re-encoded, and WAV does not restore detail lost in a compressed source.
Are my videos public?
Sources and results use authorized private file access. Downloads, retention, quotas and optional sharing follow your existing plan. Processing creates a new file and preserves the source.
What limits apply?
Up to 30 minutes, 250 MiB per source/output and your plan’s smaller file-size limit. Mono or stereo at 8–48 kHz is supported. Unsupported codecs, encrypted media, attached files and data streams are rejected. A large WAV may exceed your output limit; choose MP3/M4A or a shorter source.
