Frequently asked questions
Does FLAC improve an MP3?
No. Lossless output cannot restore information lost during earlier compression. WAV uses 16-bit PCM; FLAC uses lossless compression of 16-bit samples.
What is M4A versus AAC?
M4A is the container; AAC is the audio codec we encode inside it. OGG uses Vorbis; .opus uses Opus inside an Ogg container. Raw .aac files are not supported in V1.
Why is there no playback or waveform?
Browser codec support varies. Waveforms are bounded to 16 MiB and 3 minutes. Conversion still works without browser decoding; download unsupported results to play elsewhere.
Which audio is accepted?
Single-track mono or stereo at 8–48 kHz, up to 30 minutes and 250 MiB within plan limits. Encrypted files, video, embedded artwork and attachments are rejected.
What metadata is retained?
Metadata is removed by default. You can preserve title, artist, album, genre and date when present, bounded to 1024 bytes each. Other tags are excluded.
Are my files private?
Playback uses authorized file routes. Downloads and optional sharing use existing ownership, retention and plan controls. Previewing creates no conversion job.
