Maximum size, measured in bytes
Choose a target between 5% and 95% of the original size, with a 16 KB minimum. We search a bounded quality ladder and verify the stored output. A successful result must be at or below your target. An unreachable target saves no output; try a larger limit or a preset.
JPG and PNG, including transparency
JPG and opaque PNG produce JPG. Transparent PNG stays PNG with transparency preserved. Metadata is removed and orientation is normalized. Stronger targets can reduce detail, colors or dimensions; safe quality limits apply. Animated images and other image formats are not supported here.
Continue in Files
Compress an existing image directly from Files. Signed-in outputs keep source history and normal download, rename, delete and sharing controls. Guest results are available for 24 hours.
One image, or a batch
This tool processes one JPG or PNG, up to your plan limit and the 50 MB, 20 megapixel safety limits. For existing batch image and audio/video compression, use the batch workspace.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compress a image to 2 MB?
Choose Target size and enter 2 MB when it is within the supported range for your source. A successful download is at or below 2,097,152 bytes. If safe quality limits prevent that size, no output is saved; try a larger target or a preset.
Does compression replace my original?
No. The result is a separate file. Signed-in results keep source history in Files; guest downloads remain available for 24 hours.
